Microsoft Office 2024 arrives on Windows and Mac computers: all the new features of the office suite

Everyone has made a Word document, Excel spreadsheet or PowerPoint presentation at some point. The last update that the company had released was in 2021, but they have finally released a new one: Microsoft Office 2024. It is now available on Windows and Mac computers.

The release of Microsoft Office 2024 brings some improvements compared to the version released three years ago. All available programs are compatible with Windows 10 and 11. However, Microsoft has clarified that the 2015 version will only last until they withdraw support for the operating system on October 14, 2025. What's new in the Office update

Microsoft Office 2024 has not yet implemented real-time collaboration capabilities or the Copilot AI assistant to its desktop programs. These features remain exclusive to Microsoft 365. However, there are clear improvements compared to the 2021 version, starting with the fact that the license is permanent and you do not have to pay for it monthly or annually.

For example, Outlook searches have been improved, and dynamic charts now update automatically. Additionally, new accessibility features and multitouch support on Mac have been included.

In Excel, performance optimization stands out, especially when there are several sheets open. Also the implementation of new functions to process text and integrate images. This will make calculations and graphics much easier to do, as well as visual and understandable.

 

 

If we go to PowerPoint, it stands out for the possibility of integrating your webcam to practice, record or comment on a presentation. You can also record the presentation with audio, gestures and video. All this will make it easier to present a work or project when you have to do it in front of an audience.

Regarding OneNote, they have added a feature that allows full screen view. This will make it easier for users to write by hand if they prefer to do so.

Microsoft Office 2024 Prices

The big advantage of Microsoft Office 2024 over Microsoft 365 is that you get the license with a single payment and you keep it for life. There are users who prefer this to having to pay month after month for upgrades every so often. If you are interested in buying the latest office suite from the technology company, you can choose between two options:

  • Office Home 2024. It gives you the classic 2024 desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, access to technical support resources, and can be used on a PC or Mac. It's intended for consumers, so it's for non-commercial use. It works with Microsoft Teams. It costs 149 euros.

  • Office Home & Business 2024. It also allows you to use the classic 2024 desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. But an extra compared to the previous one is that it includes Outlook. It provides access to technical support resources and can be used on a PC or Mac. It works with Microsoft Teams. It costs 299 euros.

 
 

Both plans can be purchased from the official Microsoft website since this week and are the perfect replacement for the 2021 version. The option that the firm launched back then and that remains is online, but a monthly or annual subscription must be paid, something that not everyone is willing to do. That is why Office 2024 has become the permanent alternative for people who are not convinced by Microsoft 365.
